Matt Brown
Owner Matt Brown has well over 20 years experience in many facets of the construction industry. A journey-level heavy equipment operator, Matt is the primary operator for Hummingbird Building & Excavation, Inc. Matt brings invaluable Public Works experience from the perspective of a contractor and a former municipal employee. Matt excels in project management and displays prompt and continuous communication as projects progress.
Since Hummingbird Building & Excavation, Inc. is a family-owned and operated business, his wife, Crystal, can be found running the administrative side of things. Matt enjoys getting to work with family each day and the adventure of all the different places he gets to see as part of the job.
In his time away from work, Matt loves to spend time with his kids, boating, camping, taking his Jeep off-road, and spoiling his pitbull, Belle.
Crystal Komenda
Co-owner Crystal Komenda is the administrative face of Hummingbird Building & Excavating, Inc. With over 10 years of experience running the office side of contracting businesses, Crystal brings attention to detail to the sometimes complicated operations of business management. She has Public Works-related experience, too, including filling Certified Payroll.
Crystal’s not afraid to get dirty, either. You’ll often find her with a shovel in hand, assisting Matt on projects. A quick-learner and steady worker, she helps get the job done.
When Crystal’s not helping with the operations at Hummingbird Building & Excavation, Inc., she can be found playing the trumpet in a local community jazz band, taking her dog, Belle, for a walk around the block, or somewhere in the mountains along side Matt in their Jeep.
